Ways to Cure Cabin Fever (For Teens)

Have you been snowed in for a while? Trying to figure out how to cure your cabin fever before you go crazy? Here's an A-Z List of activities!

Every year, a large number of people get the unfortunate arrival of snow, ranging from just a few inches, to a few feet. This unwelcome snow tends to mess around with people's plans. Many businesses close, along with school, leaving teenagers helpless at home with nothing to do. This is the start of the horrible cabin fever.

The Beginning of Cabin Fever

Most teenagers start off with plan A. Watch TV, movies, play video games, drink hot cocoa and stay warm. This usually takes place on the day of the snow storm. They can't go outside, and driving anywhere is most likely not an option. The average snow storm day for a teen starts off with sleeping in as late as possible. Next, the teen usually wakes up with a sudden onset of chills after the gradual drop in the temperature outside has made the house very cold. From here, they usually head to the nearest form of food, then, it's time to watch TV. This is followed by a movie and some video games which pretty much takes up the whole day, but what happens tomorrow?

Plan B

Are you willing to brace the snow in search of adventure? Then bundle up! Make sure you are wearing lots of layers. It is very important to wear gloves and something to cover most of your face. People in cold places are very susceptible to frost bite, so it is very important to keep warm. Now is when the fun begins. Put a little money in your pocket and make sure you take a phone with you in case of emergency. It's time to venture out into the snow!

Plan C

Why not make a little money while you're snowed it? Make use of that snow shovel! A lot of other people are probably getting a little antsy being stuck inside. The roads may be cleared, but getting out of those driveways can be a little challenging. That's where you come in. After you've shoveled your own driveway, go to your neighbors and tell them you're shoveling snow for money. Hopefully you can make some money to spend on some sort of entertainment for the weekend.

You could get to work on those books you've been too busy to read, try your luck at cooking, drink hot cocoa, draw on fogged up windows, make a scrap book, write a mini comic book, count the money you earned from shoveling snow, dance around to music, make a short film, build an inside fort with sheets, play random games on the computer, Facebook, daydream, do something constructive around the house, rearrange your room, organize things, make something crafty, write a short story, measure the icicles falling from your roof, catch snow flakes on your tongue, or even go as far as working on homework...

Plan Y

If all else fells, you can always resort to just being a kid. Bundle up and head out to the snow to build a snowman! Or if you are really adventurous and have lots of snow, you can even build your ice castle, or city...what ever suits your taste. If you live in a neighbor hood with a lot of your friends within walking distance, you could even round up some people to have a bona fide snow ball fight, full with forts and plenty of ammo.

Plan Z

Just ride it out. Cabin fever will cure itself with time. It just depends on whether or not you're willing to wait for that time to come. If you start to go insane, I would suggest starting at plan A and working your way to plan Y. If none of those work, the snow should be melted and cabin fever should be over.

Cabin fever is an illness that affects many teens across the globe. If you have a teen suffering from this, help them make their first step to curing cabin fever, and print this out for them to read. I hope your suffering teen doesn't drive you crazy. Have faith, winter is almost over!
